Michael D’Ambrosio has made an impact on the Long Island soccer community for over 30 years and his dedication has now earned him an induction into the Eastern New York Hall of Fame. He received the honor at the Eastern New York Hall of Fame Banquet on January 27 at Marina del Rey in the Bronx.
D’Ambrosio has served on the LIJSL Board of Directors since 2004 and he’s currently the Vice President. He was also inducted into the LIJSL Hall of Fame in 2017.
“Mike has always been a staunch supporter of LIJSL,” LIJSL Technical Director John Fitzgerald said. “While also serving on the BOD of Eastern NY Youth Soccer Association, Mike has volunteered his time to not only affect players within LIJSL, but also throughout the state. He’s well deserving of this honor to be inducted into the ENY Hall of Fame.”
His dedication to the game began in 1988 when he began coaching his daughter Danielle’s Oceanside United team. Within the club, D’Ambrosio made an impact almost immediately and had a longstanding one, serving on the club’s Board of Directors from 1989 to 2003. During his time, he volunteered as the Intramural Director, Bob Schrager Labor Day Tournament Director, and Co-Director of the Rudy Lamonica Indoor Tournament.
“I have had the privilege of serving with Mike for well over a decade and he has always been the staunchest supporter of LIJSL whether by serving the Board of the League or at the state level – he has always exemplified what it is to volunteer, serve, and help the Long Island soccer community,” LIJSL President Andrew Seabury said. “This recognition is well deserved and we, as an organization, could not be prouder.”
The full LIJSL team sends their congratulations to Michael D’Ambrosio and his family for his latest achievement.
