Three LIJSL Teams Win USYS Eastern Regionals, Advance To National Championships

The US Youth Soccer (USYS) Eastern Regionals were held on June 23-29 in Loudon County, Va. as three LIJSL clubs left with championships. Stony Brook LGN Wildlings (U15) and Dix Hills Ultimatum (U17) took home titles for the boys, while Middle Country SC SBMC 05 (U18) won a title for the girls. All three teams now move on to the USYS National Championships, which will be held on July 17-23 in Orlando, Fla.

The Wildlings capped a strong weekend with a 2-0 win over Lower Merion SC to be crowned champions as the Ultimatum put on a brilliant attacking display to earn a 5-1 victory in the final. Middle Country’s attack also dazzled and was boosted by a stiff defense, defeating opponents by a combined score of 11-0 between the semifinals and finals, which included a 7-0 victory to win the title.

During the weekend, 12 LIJSL teams competed, split evenly between with six teams apiece for boys and girls. Competing in USYS League Championship provided the most effective route to Regionals. Four teams finished atop the group in that competition, which were Cold Spring Harbor Huntington BWG (U16), Stony Brook LGN United (U18), Stony Brook LGN Energy (U13), and Middle Country SC SBMC 05 (U18). Several other teams were involved in League Championship that competed at Regionals. Those teams were Massapequa Boltz (U17), Stony Brook LGN Thunder (U15), and Stony Brook LGN Rush (U16).
