Long Island Junior Soccer League is proud to introduce the Inter League Alliance (ILA) – a new competition platform developed in collaboration with leading leagues across the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association.
Launching this Spring 2026 with a Boys U12 pilot program, the ILA introduces a new standard for regional play, bringing together top teams across leagues in a structured environment designed to push performance, connect leagues, and elevate progression across the region.
“We’re happy to join with our local leagues to offer this special opportunity for some of our teams,” LIJSL Sporting Director John Fitzgerald said. “It’s a chance for our players to experience competition against opponents they otherwise wouldn’t play, while getting to understand the commitment to travel a small distance. And playing against opponents of similar and perhaps higher levels at this point is a positive step in their exposure and development in the game.”
The Spring 2026 pilot will consist of 9 teams from leagues within ENYYSA.
Participating leagues include:
- Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL)
- Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League (HVYSL)
- Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL)
- Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL)
This collaboration reflects a shared vision across our State Association.
“I’m excited to see the competition unfold between the teams,” LIJSL Technical Director Ronan Wiseman said. “Inter League Alliance is a great opportunity for teams to experience regular competition against teams they might never have a chance to play against. It allows them to test themselves in a broader pool of teams from the downstate area, and it will only help the players improve individually and as a team.”
What makes the ILA truly unique is its first-of-its-kind promotion and relegation model across state leagues.
Participation is earned through Fall Home League performance – but placement alone does not guarantee entry. Top teams become eligible, with final selection based on league review, club readiness, and alignment with ILA high standards; participation is ultimately confirmed by invitation only.
The ILA is not an open registration-based competition; it is built on a selective, merit-based process, where teams earn their place through performance and must meet defined standards, creating a true pathway into a higher-level competitive environment across leagues.
This structure creates a true pathway between home league play and a higher level of inter-league competition, providing meaningful progression opportunities for teams within our region. For the first time, clubs will compete not only within their own leagues but for advancement into a broader, merit-based environment that connects top teams across Eastern New York.
