LIJSL Welcomes Four New Members Into The Hall Of Fame

The Long Island Junior Soccer League Hall of Fame added four new members on Sunday, March 29. Pete Bussa, Efi Domb, Steve Padaetz, and Jim San Filippo were all honored in a ceremony at the Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown.

With over 100 people in attendance including friends, family, past inductees and LIJSL Board Members, each inductee received their Hall of Fame plaque and blazer before enjoying brunch.

Bussa led Oceanside United Soccer Club as Club President from 1994-2002, but his most lasting impact may be in his advocacy for TOPSoccer. He started the OUSC TOPSoccer program and is currently Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association TOPSoccer Chairperson.

Domb, who passed away in 2017, was a longtime coach and trainer for New Hyde Park, but was most known for his 20-plus years of refereeing LIJSL games. He was honored posthumously this past Sunday with his daughter Ilana Strauch receiving his Hall of Fame plaque.

Padaetz has been involved with the game at all levels for over 30 years. He has served in roles such as OUSC Club President, ENYYSA Vice President, and LIJSL Board of Directors Trustee.

San Filippo has been involved with the Levittown Soccer Club for over 40 years and has been a mentor for countless young athletes. He currently serves as the Levittown Club President.

“This was a wonderful day and wonderful event,” LIJSL President Andrew Seabury said. “We must congratulate Addie Mattei-Iaia and her committee for selecting a truly outstanding Class of 2026.  Our heartfelt congratulations go to Steve, Jim, Pete, and Efi’s family – these honorees exemplify selfless service to the Long Island Soccer community, LIJSL and the game itself, and represent all that is great about the LIJSL Hall of Fame. It was great to see so many Hall of Famers at the event there to welcome the new inductees.”
