The LIJSL Spring Season is wrapping up shortly, including the culmination of the LI Cup on June 8-9, and the League held its June Semi-Annual General Meeting on June 4 at the Long Island Huntington Hilton.
Among the items on the agenda was the extension of terms for several board members, including current LIJSL President Andrew Seabury, which passed unanimously.
Other topics included the success of recent referee initiatives, the healthy numbers of players competing from season to season, and a check in on the League’s strong position as a whole moving forward.
Another highlight was the discussion on the recent TOPSoccer Friendship Cup and the impact it has on not just the players, but the staff working expressed by LIJSL Sporting Director John Fitzgerald, who had the opportunity to attend his first event on June 1.
“The voluntary work that our presidents do on a daily basis doesn’t go unnoticed,” Fitzgerald said. “We’re here to help them and their clubs succeed, while keeping sights on moving the league in a positive direction.”
The Spring Season officially comes to a close on June 23 before attention then turns to early preparation for the 2024 Fall Season.
