LIJSL Coaching Education Back In Session

The LIJSL is currently hosting coaching education courses and they began in earnest on Sunday, Jan. 29 at the LIJSL Office. Several more courses are already on the schedule with more to follow.

I’m pleased to announce that we are once again offering coaching education courses through the LIJSL, following a break in delivery of them caused by Covid,” Director of Coaching Education John Fitzgerald said.  “We hosted our first course of the year this past weekend and all went well with a group of coaches who were super-engaged in the process.”

Currently, the LIJSL is offering the Foundations of Coaching Level 2 Diploma, which is geared for a grassroots approach. The course focuses on the “two S’s of development,” which are skills and soccer. More info on the course can be found here.

“My hope is that these courses either ignite a journey for new coaches, or reinvigorate current coaches,” Fitzgerald said.

Also, the course meets the mandate set by the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association, which is needed for all coaches and parent admins to obtain a sideline pass.

Spacing for each course is limited and it’s strongly recommended for those needing to take the course to act fast.

“We have courses currently scheduled for the many coaches who need to take them before the fall season, and I strongly urge folks not to wait until the last moment otherwise they might get shut out,” Fitzgerald added.
