Ronkonkoma, NY (February 27, 2020) – The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) Academy announced today that it has joined the United Soccer League’s Super Y League. LIJSL Academy teams will start competing in the summer of 2020.
The addition to the Super Y League comes off the heels of LIJSL announcing a new direction for player development and growth with introduction of the new LIJSL Academy. Competing in the Super Y League follows the retooled philosophy of the LIJSL’s further commitment to complementing elite-level training with a step-up to a higher standard of national competition.
“The Super Y League provides us the competition that we need on a weekly basis. Our teams are ready to take on higher competition and we believe that the Super Y League offers that.” said, LIJSL Academy Director Ronan Wiseman.
The Super Y League is comprised of some of the top youth soccer teams in the nation. Players compete in regional league play that feeds into the Super Y League National Finals. Additionally, the Super Y League provides players with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the SYL Scouting Network. Following their emphasis on growth and development, the SYL Scouting Network exposes the talent of select players to both collegiate and professional coaches.
“We’re excited to provide the platform for LIJSL to embark on this new era of programming,” said Dominic Colarusso, USL Manager of Youth League Growth & Development. “The LIJSL Academy’s vision to elevate player development efforts will be enhanced through competing in Super Y League, while giving their players the chance of qualifying for our National Championship.”
