Club-to-Club PDI Flourishes in its Fourth Year

Last year, we were eager to announce an expansion of the LIJSL Player Development Initiative (PDI) program into Nassau county. This year, we are excited to announce that the program has since grown to include sixty teams from Nassau County and thirty teams from Suffolk County.

PDI is a great resource for the development of U7 (2015) and U8 (2014) players. Similar to our Club Development Days, the PDI program consists of exciting matches against local teams in an encouraging and fun environment. Although, they differ with scheduling, PDI is played on weekly basis, whereas Club Development Days are three festivals over the course of a season.

“The LIJSL PDI program is a great way for clubs to give their players a unique developmental experience. All of the clubs involved have committed numerous teams in each age group that are coached by professional trainers,” said Ronan Wiseman, LIJSL Technical Director. “Having the professional engagement from the clubs only enhance the experience for players of that age.”

One of the newest additions to Club-to-Club PDI this year is Mineola, and they have had a positive experience with the program since joining.

“The amount of touches on the ball due to the small sided games has helped the group get better technically,” said Carlos Mendes, Mineola SC.

Mineola played host for the PDI event this past Sunday, October 24.

“Overall, we have had a really positive experience and appreciate all the work that goes into making each weekend of games successful,” Mendes added.

The program is continuously looking to grow and incorporate more teams. Interested in participating? Contact your member club to get registered!
