The LIJSL Academy East and Academy West programs broke ground this past weekend with the first round of tryouts and I.D. sessions.
Players throughout Long Island flocked to Manorville and Garden City on Sunday, April 25, for the highly anticipated Academy East and West tryouts.
“It was great to see the tremendous turnouts at the Academy East and West tryouts last weekend,” said Ronan Wiseman, LIJSL Technical Director. “We are looking forward to the second tryout this weekend and seeing more talented players in action.”
At the Manorville location, the Academy East coaching staff saw many promising signs with the group of players in attendance.
“The first Academy East tryout was a success with many enthusiastic and talented players,” said Bob Montgomery, Academy East Director. “I look forward to Sunday’s second tryout with the opportunity to see some additional players that were unavailable to attend the first session.”
Looking at Garden City, the Academy West tryouts did not disappoint one bit in terms of turnout.
“The Academy West staff were extremely pleased with the number of players who participated in this past weekend’s tryout,” said Carlo Acquista, Academy West Director. “This explains the buzz surrounding the academy program. Super excited for the second tryout as we continue to identify and build this unique pathway for our future.”
The Academy East and West programs aim to provide elite-level training with nationally licensed coaches at an economical-friendly price. Additionally, the programs include tournament participation for the summer of 2021 (Hudson Valley, July 17-18).
