The LIJSL Academy completed its second year in Super Y League and earned four berths to the Finals, which will take place in Tampa, Fla. on December 9-13.
“It’s a great achievement for the teams who qualified to go to the Super Y Finals in Tampa, as well as an outstanding milestone for the LIJSL Academy in our second year in the competition,” LIJSL Academy Director Ronan Wiseman said. The level of play in all our academy teams continues to rise and we hope even more teams can reach the Finals stage next year.
The 2011 (U12) girls, coached by Salma Tarik, and 2008 (U15) girls, coached by Scott Scelsa, both finished in first place in the North Atlantic division with unbeaten records. The 2010 (U13) girls, coached by Karim Diallo, finished second due to goals for tiebreaker, while the 2010 (U13) boys, coached by Toni Mutschler, also finished in second place.
Several individual players also were recognized for stellar play this campaign and were highlighted as top ten players in their age group. They are as follows:
