USYS Eastern Regionals Completed, BU13 Brentwood 2008 Premier Man City Advances to Nationals

The United States Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships have wrapped up and Brentwood have moved on to represent LIJSL at the National Championships on July 18-25 in Florida.

Between June 25 – July 1, nine LIJSL teams competed in the USYS Eastern Regional Championships in Hammonton, N.J. After facing the best of the best, BU13 Brentwood 2008 Premier Man City won the title in their age bracket and advanced to the USYS National Championships.

The championship for Brentwood came in dramatic fashion. Premier Man City moved past a powerful Beadling SC 2008 (PA-West) team via the penalty shootout 3-3 Full-Time (4-3 Penalties). Brentwood battled their way to penalty kicks after holding onto a narrow 3-3 score line, playing a man down, and surviving two intense halves of extra time.

In the shootout, a save from the Brentwood goalkeeper and a missed shot from Beadling SC put the Long Island team at an advantage. The Premier Man City team capitalized on their opportunities and scored on all four of their penalty attempts, securing their place in the National Championship.

“We are very proud of this talented group of boys,” said Violette Smith, Brentwood SC President. “They have endured tremendous challenges on their National Championship Series journey.

“Winning both the regional semifinal and final matches playing a man down –– let’s bring the National Championship back home to Long Island.”

Brentwood 2008 Premier Man City will be continuing their National Championship Series journey when they head to Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida, on July 18-25, to compete for the USYS National Championship.

LIJSL would like to wish Brentwood the best of luck at USYS Nationals!
