Practices will be held at a facility that will be located along the Nassau/Suffolk County border, it will be easily accessible from the East and West.
The program predominantly takes place in the Spring and Summer.
The LIJSL Academy USL Youth teams will be competing in the USL Youth league.
Academy USL Youth teams play weekly league games in the USL Youth league. This warrants a stronger commitment to practice and playing for the players.
Academy East is a training based program geographically located in Mastic. The program places emphasis on training sessions with participation in a summer tournament. This program does not participate in USL Youth.
Academy West is a training based program geographically located in Garden City. The program places emphasis on training sessions with participation in a summer tournament. This program does not participate in USL Youth.
Academy USL Youth – Cost is $795, this includes all facility costs, coaching fees, league registration costs, referee fees, administration costs. This does not include the uniform cost.
Teams will play in three (3) tournaments in the months of July and August.
The teams will practice 1x weekly in the spring and move to 2x weekly once the LIJSL league play season is over.
Academy USL Youth uniform cost is anticipated to be between $150-$170 (based on cost from 2022 season, prices for 2023 are not available yet but are expected to be slightly higher than 2022).
Training is expected to start at the end of April or beginning of May.
Selection notifications will be sent out early 2024.
It is recommended that players attend all three sessions. This allows the coaches to see the best representation of them as players.
The Academy USL Youth program requires a strong commitment. Players are expected to be available for all training sessions and games in the summer.
Travel in specific age groups will depend on which clubs are placed in that division, but could potentially be several hours away.
The USL Youth games typically start at the end of June and can go through to the middle of August. If the team qualifies, the USL Youth National Championships are held in December.
Yes, the LIJSL Academy USL Youth teams are supplemental to what players are doing with their club team.
