LIJSL Kicked off Soccer at Home initiatives with LIJSL RBNY Freestyle Party

The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) launched its Soccer at Home series with a virtual Freestyle Party featuring the New York Red Bulls freestyle team on Wednesday, April 22.

The interactive event introduced attendees to freestyling, a unique aspect of ball control that allows players to channel their inner creativity. Members from the RBNY Freestyle Team provided instruction on new tricks and techniques within the comfort of their own home.

“I really enjoyed watching the RBNY Freestyle Crew performing,” LIJSL Technical Director Ronan Wiseman said. “They showed that we can all try to do what they did in the show as it only requires a ball and a little space either inside or outside of your home, no special facilities or equipment is needed.”

Attendees were given step-by-step instruction to exciting skill moves and had the ability to ask the freestylers questions if they experienced difficulties trying to perform the skills.

“Their instruction was clear and easy to follow and I’m looking forward to their next performance,” Wiseman added.

The Freestyle Party was the first event being co-hosted by League professional technical partner, New York Red Bulls.

“The LIJSL Freestyle Party was so much more than I imagined,” said Bryan Alcantara, Youth Training Programs Regional Manager, New York Red Bulls. “The energy and positivity coming from the RBNY freestylers was exactly what I feel we all needed. Thank you to LIJSL for creating the opportunity and for all their hard work to put this together for our local soccer community.”

For those that were unable to attend, a recording of the Freestyle Party can be found below.

The New York Red Bulls will be co-hosting a Q&A with LIJSL alumni and current Red Bulls players Tim Parker and Sean Nealis on Wednesday, April 29, at 6 p.m. ET. Membership can RSVP to the exclusive event via invitation from the League email system.
