LIJSL Concludes Series Of Presidents Roundtables

The Long Island Junior Soccer League hosted Presidents Roundtables, on three successive Wednesdays, which concluded on April 2. While there is a larger meeting with all club presidents bi-annually, the Presidents Roundtables allowed a more intimate setting for more discussion.

All three of the Presidents Roundtables were held at the LIJSL Office, moderated by LIJSL President Andrew Seabury alongside a rotation of LIJSL Board Members and League Staff spoke with club presidents or other club representatives on a variety of topics to benefit all members of the LIJSL community. Some topics included zero tolerance on bad behavior on the field or sidelines and the new US Soccer referee abuse prevention policy, upcoming age group change in 2026, and further growth of the women’s game on Long Island.

“The Presidents Roundtables may be the most productive meetings we have all year,” LIJSL President Andrew Seabury said. “The open discussion format allows for great feedback from presidents and club representatives to help further our impact as a league in the soccer community here on Long Island. We appreciate all the time and lively discussion that happened over the course of these past Wednesday nights and putting ideas that were spoken about into practice in the future.”

“The Roundtable meetings present opportunities for our club presidents to be heard in a fairly intimate setting,” LIJSL Sporting Director John Fitzgerald. “As opposed to the larger bi-annual presidents meetings, Roundtables afford dialogue between not only LIJSL representatives and presidents, but also between the presidents themselves. This can be both enlightening and helpful, as each club has their own unique circumstances, and yet share many similarities. It truly is a team effort. Each club president is a volunteer, and it’s refreshing to see them so willingly serving their communities.”

The club presidents and LIJSL Board Members will next have an opportunity to meet in a larger group setting at the Semi-Annual General Meeting in June.

“The engagement and enthusiasm were fantastic from all the clubs during the meetings and we are not only excited about the current Spring Season and LI Cup that are underway, but developments that are coming in the future,” Seabury said. “We look forward to circling back with all the presidents on the League’s progress in June.”
