The LIJSL Academy Girls U15 (2007) squad will be making a trip to Tampa, Florida on December 10-14 to compete in the 2021 Super Y League Finals.
The cherry on top of a tremendous opening season for the LIJSL Academy program would be bringing home silverware in the Super Y Finals. The Girls U15 team is determined to continue the great strides they’ve taken on the pitch this season when they make the trip to Tampa, Florida in December.
The journey to the finals has certainly been impressive thus far for the girls, finishing the regular season with 13 points and a 4-1-2 (W-D-L) record in a tight group. Academy player Emma Heaney led the team and the North Atlantic division with seven (7) goals in seven games. A key to the team’s success this season has been their mentality which is echoed by their coach Bart Polster,
“With limited sessions leading into the season and with the compact schedule it was important to me to have talent, but getting all players believing in a common goal was the paramount focus for this group,” Polster said. “We are extremely excited to be representing the LIJSL Academy in the Super Y League during our journey to become National Champions. One belief; where we go one, we go all!”
The Opposition
The road to the finals will be a true test as they face some of the most talented teams in the country. The team has received their opposition for the group stage, it features; Arlington SA Championship (TX), Tri-State Elite (WV), and Florida Premier FC (FL).
“The LIJSL Academy has been a fantastic experience for my daughter. To be selected to play with some of the best Long Island soccer talent of girls has without question increased her skill level, soccer IQ, tactical game play and ball interaction,” John Vice, LIJSL Academy GU15 parent. “In addition, her coach was amazing and encouraged the girls to play at a higher level,” he added.
