The LIJSL Academy Super Y program saw four teams compete at the 2023 Super Y Nationals in Tampa, Fla., which was the most teams from the Academy to compete at Nationals in the program’s three-year history.
Three teams competed in the girls’ bracket (U12, U13, and U14), while one team competed on the boys’ side (U12). The U12 and U13 girls narrowly missed out on reaching the National Semifinals.
The LIJSL Academy Super Y program now aims to build off the recent success in 2024. The program recently had the largest amount of participants over the course of the two-week tryout period.
“Our Super Y Academy teams had a good showing at Nationals this weekend,” LIJSL Academy Director Ronan Wiseman said. “Some of the competition was extremely good and provided a great experience for our players. We hope to continue to improve and get more teams back to Tampa next year.”
