The United States Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships took place in Charleston and Barrboursville, W. Va., from June 24-June 30 as several Long Island Junior Soccer League sides competed for a chance to play at the USYS National Championship.
Boys U14 Stony Brook LGN Wildlings Blue went on to be crowned champions of their bracket with a 1-0 victory in the final over Torpedoes SC. The Wildlings qualified for Eastern Regionals via USYS League Championship, which was held at the Bethpage Polo Fields on Long Island on May 21-22. During their run to the title, they defeated fellow LIJSL club Brentwood SC 2008 Premier Man City in the quarterfinals. Brentwood reached the National Championship stage last year.
Girls U19 Massapequa SC Ladies Select were finalists in their bracket and Cold Spring Harbor BWG East made it to the quarterfinals in the BU15 bracket. Both of those sides also qualified for Eastern Regionals through League Championship.
LIJSL would like to congratulate all of the teams for reaching the Eastern Regionals and is wishing Stony Brook LGN Wildlings all the best at the National Championship on July 19-24 in Orlando, FL.
