The LIJSL Academy took the pitch for a third consecutive season and wrapped up the regular season with four teams clinching bids to the Super Y League National Finals, which will take place at the Tournament SportsPlex of Tampa Bay in Tampa, Fla. from December 8-12.
The LIJSL Academy teams that qualified are the U12 girls coached by Bart Polster, U13 girls coached by Salma Tarik, U14 girls coached by Karim Diallo, and U14 boys coached by James Timmons. The U13 girls, U14 girls, and U14 boys have reached the Super Y National Finals for a second time.
Over the course of the regular season, the U13 girls finished atop of the North Atlantic division with an unbeaten record of 6W-0L-1D. The U14 girls finished second in the North Atlantic division with a record of 8-1-0, while the U12 girls finished in third with a 5-2-0 record. The U14 boys completed the season in third place in the North Atlantic division’s group B with a 6-4-0 record.
The LIJSL Academy BU11 side had an unbeaten season, but there is currently no national event for the age group.
“After our third year of play in the Super Y League, we are pleased to see that once again we have four teams who have qualified for the Super Y League National Finals,” LIJSL Academy Director Ronan Wiseman said. “Some of our other teams had good seasons also with our BU11 winning the division and some of our other teams finishing just outside the Finals positions. We are looking forward to improving on our showing at the Finals last year and to improve the program going into next season.”
