Shining bright under the lights.
TOPSoccer players around the Long Island Junior League played “under the stars” at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School on Sunday, October 20. Around 30 players participated and clubs that were represented included Plainview-Old Bethpage, Sachem, Smithtown, HBC, East Islip, and Valley Stream.
It was an opportunity that many of the TOPSoccer players have yet to experience and all players put on a spirited display in a competitive game.
“With the help from Mother Nature, we were able to give our TOPSoccer senior players an experience they enjoy, namely, playing under the lights,” LIJSL TOPSoccer Chairperson Ann Marie Toth said. “They played their hearts out. It was exciting and fun for all – players as well as spectators. Our seniors have come a long way because of all our volunteers. We will try to arrange this event again and perhaps even more will attend. Thanks to all who took part.”
“Sunday night was a wonderful evening for all players, coaches, and families playing on a turf field under the lights,” LIJSL Programs and Events Manager Stephanie Hernandez said. “The excitement on player faces along with the cheers from the crowd made the night magical. LIJSL is proud to support the evening along with hosting club Plainview-Old Bethpage. Looking forward to another event soon.”
