The Long Island Junior Soccer League Hall of Fame grew on Sunday, April 2 with the induction of three new members. Jim Magyar, Lou Pepe, and Tim Stalker were inducted at a ceremony at the Long Island Hilton.
“Speaking for the LIJSL, we are extremely proud to add Jim Magyar, Lou Pepe, and Tim Stalker to the Hall of Fame,”LIJSL Managing Director Sonia Kelly said. “They’ve all had a tremendous impact on the sport in their community and are all highly deserving of this honor.”
Magyar founded the New Hyde Park Wildcats Soccer Club in 1978 as well as serving as the club’s president for eight years. Pepe is a current Board of Directors member for East Islip Soccer Club and established the Just For Kicks program, which is designed for children on the Autism spectrum. Stalker has been involved with the Terryville Soccer Club in a number of roles, including serving as club president. He is currently the Coaches Arbitration Committee Chairperson as well as Games Chairman for LIJSL. More on each inductee can be seen here.
Among their families and past Hall of Fame honorees, the three new members sat down for a brunch before receiving their Hall of Fame plaque and suit jacket.
“The Hall of Fame brunch is always a fantastic event, giving our new and past recipients the opportunity to get together and look back on all the incredible achievements they’ve accomplished as a group,” Kelly said. “I’d like to once again congratulate Jim, Lou, and Tim for being inducted into the LIJSL Hall of Fame as well as a thank you to all the families and past recipients that came on Sunday to celebrate our inductees.”
