Congratulations to all of the Spring 2021 Sportsmanship winners!
The program which launched in the early 1980’s to promote teamwork and fair play was the result of LIJSL Hall of Famer, Rocco Amoroso’s philosophy.
Following the completion of every league game, the assigned match referee submits sportsmanship ratings for both teams. The teams receive ‘ratings’ (points) for Coaches, Players, Spectators, as well as overall game behavior, in addition to (uniform) appearance.
Since its’ creation over forty years ago, the Sportsmanship award has been given out at the end of each season, both spring and fall to a team in each division that accumulates the most sportsmanship points.
