The LIJSL is saddened to hear of the passing of longtime coach Tony Picciano.
He coached for decades in both the LIJSL Select and PDP programs, which are known today as the LIJSL Academy.
Before becoming a coach, Picciano played professionally with the New York Cosmos, starting in Pele’s first game for the club in 1975.
Picciano is survived by his beloved wife Jean, his two sons Gregory and Brian and their wives Kimberly and Aileen, his five grandchildren Sean, Henry, Benjamin, Evan, and Caroline, his sister and brother-in-law Marie and Bob Boiko, and countless friends who were a part of his family.
He will be greatly missed and the LIJSL sends its condolences to his family, friends, and all those who have the chance to learn from him on the soccer field.
