LIJSL Academy Has Record Turn Out For USL Youth Tryouts

The LIJSL Academy has officially started preparations for the 2025 USL Youth season after holding tryouts on December 7-8 at Brentwood Soccer Fields. Over the course of the weekend, it was a record turn out of tryout participants with almost 400 players in attendance.

The effort from boys and girls across all age groups couldn’t be questioned as they left an impression among the talent evaluators.

“It was great to see so many players attend the tryouts,” LIJSL Academy Director Ronan Wiseman said. “The players did a great job and impressed the coaching staff with their level of play. The coaches are all looking forward to another successful season in 2025.”

The program will be entering its fifth season in USL play in 2025 as teams continue to see success on the field. Three teams will head to Tampa, Fla. for the Electrolit USL Youth Finals from December 13-17. Two other teams won brackets, but there is no current finals competition for the U11 age group.

For interested players that couldn’t attend, there will be another round of tryouts that will be announced at a later date.
