Four Teams Reach USYS Eastern Regionals After Winning League Championship

The US Youth Soccer League Championship Finals were held on May 20-21 at the River City Sportsplex in Richmond, Va. Four LIJSL teams have secured a berth into Eastern Regionals.

“In it’s third year, League Championship has again provided a great opportunity for Long Island teams to get to the Eastern Regionals,” LIJSL Technical Director Ronan Wiseman said. “CCL Virginia hosted this year’s finals weekend with four LIJSL teams winning their groups and progressing to the Eastern Regionals.”

Two boys and two girls teams will take the next step in the journey to Nationals. The four teams are as follows:

Boys

Cold Spring Harbor Huntington BWG (U16)

Stony Brook LGN United  (U18)

Girls

Stony Brook LGN Energy (U13)

Middle Country SC (U18)

During the weekend event, a total of 11 LIJSL teams were in action. Results from all the games can be seen by clicking here.

“The event was very competitive with some of the top teams from all over the region taking part in the event,” Wiseman said. “We look forward to League Championship in 2024 and good luck to the teams at the Eastern Regionals.”

USYS League Championship began in 2021 and is an additional pathway to the USYS Eastern Regional and National Championships. In addition to the LIJSL, clubs from the Atlantic Premier League (APL), Club Champions League (CCL), and the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) competed in Richmond.
