Thirty-three graduating seniors were honored at the 42nd Annual IJSL Scholarship Breakfast at the Long Island/Huntington Hilton on Sunday, July 17.
“One of the events we look forward to every year is the LIJSL Scholarship Breakfast,” LIJSL President Andrew Seabury said. “Recognizing these tremendous student-athletes ahead of their transition to college is always a pleasure and we know they will continue to be shining lights in their future endeavors.
“I would also like to thank the donors, the Scholarship Committee and all the staff at the League Office because without their hard work and dedication this event would not be possible.”
The long-standing tradition of awarding scholarships to student-athletes that exemplify the core values that the League was established upon in 1966, including hard work, discipline, responsibility, and teamwork
Also, Scholarship Chairperson Lynn Scarpati and TOPSoccer Coordinator Ann Marie Toth were also acknowledged at the start of the Breakfast for their long-running contributions to make the event so special.
“The 42nd LIJSL Scholarship Awards Breakfast is the culmination of months of hard work for the LIJSL staff and Scholarship Committee and years for the student-athletes and their families,” Scarpati said. These 33 high school graduates are deserving of the recognition bestowed on them on July 17.
“A special thank you to all of the donors who have been inspired by amazing people to establish a scholarship award. The scholarship recipients are even more impressive in person. They will make all of us proud. I extend my deepest appreciation to all of the presenters and volunteers who make this such a memorable occasion.”
