37th Annual Convention Kicks Off on March 8th

Spring is around the corner and that means the 37th annual Long Island Junior Soccer League convention is soon to follow at the Long Island Huntington Hilton.

The annual event kicks off on Friday, March 8, when LIJSL Hall of Fame inductees and Volunteers of the Year will be honored at a dinner. The dinner will be followed by two days of events.

On Saturday, March 9, and Sunday, March 10, convention goers can visit the exhibition hall to speak with leading companies in the soccer world, while coaches can take part in courses or technical demonstrations run by nationally licensed clinicians, including United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Ian Barker.

There will also be an opportunity to receive CPR/AED certification (Saturday), as well as the United Soccer Coaches 4-v-4 diploma (Sunday). Both sessions require advance registration.

Three Long Island soccer legends will also be in attendance when MSG Networks analyst Shep Messing, New York Red Bulls head coach Chris Armas, and former Adelphi head coach and Red Bulls Academy Director Bob Montgomery give a talk on the future of the game.

LIJSL teams that earned Fall 2018 sportsmanship awards, sponsored by Modell’s, can pick them up during the convention at the allotted time for each group. The schedule denotes when pick-up times are.

Coaches meetings for the U9 through U15 age groups to receive their spring schedules will also be held during the convention. Coaches should check the convention schedule for the time, place of individual age group meetings
Also, during the convention there will be a college forum for high school freshman, sophomores, and juniors which will include college coaches discussing topics such as financial aid, how to pick the right college to fit your needs, and more.

On Saturday evening, all LIJSL volunteers (must be 21 or older) can join in the fun at the FREE Casino Night from 6-11pm. Food, beverages will be served.View Exhibitor List
