Convention Central: The College Forum

LIJSL
There will be a host of great events and programs taking place at the LIJSL Convention. But year after year, the one session that always fills up is the annual College Forum.

This year's event, for high school sophomores and juniors, will once again play host to an all-star panel including soccer coaches, administrators, and volunteers who have their collective fingers on the pulse of the college game.

The forum, which also offers translation for Spanish speaking players, includes many college coaches discussing everything from the reality of scholarships, to NCAA eligibility, to what coaches look for in a player. Attendees will also learn about the college search; where to begin, how to make it effective, and the importance of academics in the athletic recruiting process.

The next part of the program will share insight for players on finding the right fit athletically. Various coaches will introduce the pros and cons of playing in junior college, for a U.S. Service Academy team, and in a Division I program. All of the panel members will also give an inside look into the commitment it takes to play soccer at the collegiate level.

The session will also include a question and answer period and an information packet. The session is strictly informational in nature and is in no way a "recruiting" event.
