Player Development Program (PDP)
The LIJSL PDP Program has found great success since re-organizing and changing the program philosophy in 2011. Team play at local tournaments, College Tours and International Travel were very competitive. Experiences of the players were positive and we look forward to even a more successful season this year.
Our goal is to afford each player the opportunity to develop to the best of his/her ability in a safe, fun and challenging environment. This is accomplished during weekly training sessions led by Licensed/Certified and Risk Management cleared coaches using the latest coaching methodologies that are age appropriate. Each age group U11 through high school juniors have specific Technical and Tactical goals set by our curriculum based on guidance of the U.S. National Team Program. In addition to the scheduled weekly indoor/outdoor sessions, opportunities to participate in "friendlies", Tournaments and other training/travel play are scheduled during the outdoor season. We believe this approach will give each player the greatest likelihood for a successful, rewarding and enjoyable experience that allows the program to improve the overall quality of the player pool and become a significant feeder system to higher level programs at the State, Regional and National levels.
- 10 Indoor Training Sessions (mid December–March)
- Approximately 14 Spring Training Sessions (April-June)
- 4-half day PDP Camp at Soccer Park, Plainview, NY
- 2 Travel Tournaments (age group appropriate)
- College Tour or Travel Abroad (differs by age group) (See Age Group Outline)
- (Sessions are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather/field availability.)
Players who attend Try Outs are indicating a commitment to attend all weekly training sessions. Unexplained absences indicate that the player is no longer interested in participating in the program. We will move forward with the age group as such.
At this program level, we must stress and expect a high level of commitment from each player selected to participate. If you accept a roster spot in LIJSL PDP, you will be expected to attend ALL training sessions, tournaments, camp and other activities as outlined above.
We are excited about the coming season and look forward to the opportunity to further develop skills and participate at a higher level of competition that will better prepare our LIJSL Elite players for future play at the club and college level.
