The Long Island Junior Soccer League honored 29 men and women for their dedication to the sport of soccer and the nearly 60,000 youngsters who play the game on Long Island. The ceremony took place at the organization’s 33rd annual Volunteer Awards Dinner on Friday, March 6th, at the Hilton Huntington Hotel in Melville, NY, and the awards were presented by members of the New York Cosmos.
Worthy candidates are nominated by their home club (97 clubs representing local towns from Queens to the Hamptons are members of the LIJSL). This year’s group includes coaches, administrators, fundraisers, team mom’s, board members, committee chairs, and club presidents, among others, and many of the honorees have served as all of the above.
