The US Men’s National Team got a goal from Herculez Gomez in the 55th minute that was enough to secure a 1-0 win over Jamaica in World Cup qualifying play in Columbus, OH last night. The victory was a nice rebound off a 2-1 loss to the same Jamaican team in Kingston last week.
With a record of 2-1-1, the US is now tied with Guatemala atop the standings in Group A with 7 points and a +2 goal differential with two games to play.
The US will travel to play Antigue & Barbuda on October 12th before heading to Kansas City to host Guatemala in the finale. A win in both games or a win against A&B and a tie with Guatemala will secure a spot for the United States in next year’s Hexagonal.
