[AMERICANS ABROAD] Charlie Davies is headed back to Scandinavia, where he began his European career. The 26-year-old
striker signed with Danish club Randers FC after being released from the final year of his contract with French club Sochaux.
Davies played only two games for Sochaux after being
seriously injured in a car crash more than two and half years ago. He spent the 2011 season on loan to D.C. United, which did not want him back. Sochaux's relegation to Ligue 2 forced it to reduce its
first-team roster.
Davies had played for Sweden's Hammarby after leaving Boston College.
Another former U.S. college product, Armenian international Yura Movsisyan, began his international career at Randers before moving to Russia.
Randers is returning to the Danish SAS Ligaen after winning promotion in 2012. It had been
relegated the previous season.
